The plot moves so fast.

It's impressive that Elijah was so sympathetic towards Elena over Jeremy... when it was Elena & Jeremy who so recently killed Kol. (Regardless of whether Kol had it coming or not.) No matter that he felt some inner hesitation... Damon was on the floor still recovering. I just don't see how he could've possibly stopped Rebekah, an original, in time. So I feel any blame there is really unjustified.

The ONLY person who is truly to blame here is their mother. They both have to come to realize that instead of pointing the finger at each other. Aurora got HERSELF killed by having Octavia. And deep down she had to have known that. Because even if Bellamy didn't take Octavia to that dance, how long were they really going to be able to keep her hidden anyway? Octavia would have been found one way or another eventually and Aurora would have still been floated, leaving Octavia motherless and in prison and Bellamy alone with everything taken away from him. His mom was killed, his sister was sent to prison, AND he lost his job.

When did they say "the curse created the doppelganger"? In Season 3 Klaus and Elijah told the Salvatores that Tatia was the "Originator of the Petrova line" but they never said she was the first doppelganger, unless I missed something. I took it to mean she was the first one with the surname Petrova. 🤷

'After everything that Damon has done'... as if Stefan has no culpability of his own in their relationship. Didn't Stefan recently kill Andie? Which was before Stefan turned off his humanity or was compelled. Sure, Damon killed Lexi... but Stefan doing the same thing is equally 'everything that Stefan has done.' The bias is so constant. You don't have to prefer or love Damon. But it's a work of fiction... as a writer, I would think you would appreciate the dynamic he brings to the series and the brothers. They're vampires. Being in the gray is lively. I appreciate the in-between of Stefan and Damon.

I love the scenes with Damon and Elena and how much Damon loves his brother.

I don't think that John's death was in vain just because Elena is a vampire now. If a soldier takes a bullet for a fellow soldier and dies from it, they still die a hero, even if the soldier who lives ends up killing themself later on. Sorry, that is a very bleak example but I wanted to use an analogy of something that could actually happen IRL.
